SOUTH EASTERN FREEWAY UPGRADE – ADDITIONAL FUNDING
$90 million over five years (including $4 million beyond the forward estimates) towards safety upgrade works including replacement of retaining walls and stabilisation of slopes on the South Eastern Freeway, with the new expenditure funded in partnership with the Commonwealth Government on a 50:50 basis.
This brings the total project cost to $440 million ($265 million Commonwealth Government funding and $175 million state funding).
SAFER HORROCKS HIGHWAY
$90 million over four years for upgrades along the Horrocks Highway, including the construction of overtaking lanes, lane extensions, culvert replacements and road widening to improve traffic flow and enhance safety.
A Commonwealth Government contribution towards this critical project will be sought on an 80:20 basis.
MOUNT BARKER TRANSPORT IMPROVEMENT – ADELAIDE AND HAWTHORN ROAD INTERSECTION
$80 million over five years to upgrade the Adelaide and Hawthorn Road intersection, including improved signalling and widening of the intersection, installation of additional turning lanes and widening of Adelaide Road.
HAPPY VALLEY DRIVE INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS
$16 million over three years to deliver an upgraded roundabout at the Chandlers Hill Road and Happy Valley Drive intersection and a new roundabout at Windebanks Road and Happy Valley Drive, to improve traffic flow on Chandlers Hill Road, enhance safety at the Windebanks Road intersection and reduce peak-time queuing and delays.
TORRENS PARK PARK ‘N’ RIDE
$7 million over three years to build a new Park ‘n’ Ride at Torrens Park railway station to improve access to public transport for commuters in the area.
BATTERY ELECTRIC TRAIN TRIAL
$3.5 million over three years for a battery‑powered passenger train trial operated on the Belair rail line, providing a cleaner, greener and quieter service.
